I thought this slide show of Lincoln Presenters meshed nicely with ARCHIVE’s video about William Peck. The image of the white-bearded Lincoln particularly struck me–Lincoln as he never was… It’s strange to consider what might have happened if Lincoln hadn’t been shot and had become (literally) the elder statesman. I doubt he’d be so famous or popular today, not after he would have had to deal with the mess of Reconstruction. Better to go out in a blaze of glory.
