    This list of Lincoln’s failures has been circulating for a while (at least since 1967) and Snopes has an interesting analysis of the list. http://www.snopes.com/glurge/lincoln.asp
    I think Snopes may go too far the other way–for example discounting Lincoln’s failure in business in New Salem, which Lincoln himself described as “winking out”, so look at both and see what you think.
